Cool hair dude at the pool ;)

On Sundays, Oliver has swimming lessons. Last year, in the winter time, I tried to dry his hair before going outdoors. He HATED having his hair dried! He would freak out and pull away. So, big, thick hat it was!
Yesterday, I walked by the dryers and he made me stop. He WANTED to dry his hair. PLUS he wanted to check his hair in the mirror. We were surrounded by little girls who disliked having their hair dried but, no, my boy was so into it! Not surprising, considering that he is now a cool hair dude! Please send me sanity wishes for when he becomes a teen! ;)

Wishing you all a great week! xox

Indoors camping

Last night, since Andreas was away, we did some indoors camping (this is probably the camping that I am the best in). The boys love it and so do I- it was a great way to end a "not so much fighting, cosy evening"! All it takes is lots of quilts, moving some furniture out of the living room, tons of pillows and some tired boys... :)

Happiness is....

.... not having to rush. Seriously, the more we do, the more I appreciate the quiet moments. Andreas is away for the weekend for work reasons and I decided that we (the boys and I) would stay home tonight... enjoying each others' company... at least until the fights start ;) Then they will go to bed ;)

Hyggeligt (cosy) weekend to you all!

Happy weekend!

It has been a busy week (I seem to be saying that a lot lately) and I am very happy for the weekend. You can really feel that autumn is in the air. Actually, autumn is my favourite season but I would like it more if winter didn't follow ;)

I just got back from my end of the season soccer party (more to come) and I am now enjoying a few minutes of quiet before heading off to bed... Wishing you all a great weekend xox

Date

Since the summer time, Andreas and I have been taking the train in to work and, increasingly, we are finding ourselves able to take the same train! It is kind of like a date... only in the morning... and on the way to work... and with lots and lots of other people... and without food or coffee... or wine ;) Given our ability to actually go out on dates, we'll take it!

Happy Tuesday to all xox

PS: No comments about the matching stripe shirts, please. It was not done on purpose and I only noticed it after posting this picture. OK.. we are cheesy ;)

Sleep over

We have a guest sleeping over tonight. Maybe she will decide to stay?

PS: she keeps moving when I try to take her picture ;)

Happy weekend!

Lately, it has been really busy on the home front ;) Back to the land of making lunches, washing school clothes, fighting through homework, getting sorted out at work... you get the idea! Anyway, here are a few pictures of the last few days. I miss writing here but just haven't been able to get organized enough to find blogging time!

Wishing you a great weekend! Alexander and I have soccer finals tonight... wish us luck xox

Teenage troubles ;)

Oliver is 5 years old. He just started kindergarten. I have to remind him not to put his finger in his nose in public (what I can't see won't hurt me ;)). He cries when he doesn't score in his soccer game. Although making strides in colouring, he can barely keep in the lines. Oliver also spends about 30 minutes each day doing his hair. Yes, I am serious. Today, he asked to use my blow drier (which he was scared of last week) and my straightener... He even asked me if his hair looked cool. I said yes. He replied "Whatever. You don't know cool hair." This is, seriously, a true conversation.

We are in serious trouble... he is 5 going on 15.... ;)

Happy Saturday! xox

Busy holiday

Today is Labour Day.... or Labor Day in the US ;) That means it is a day off that is put just at the beginning of the school year to remind us how much we should be missing summer ;) It is kind of like a "hahahahaha, suckers" ;)
The beginning of the school year is always a mad rush. This year, it has been worse because Oliver is starting kindergarten. This means that he has an oh-so-gradual-entry-designed-to-stress-out-working-parents. Tomorrow will be the start of the real start, meaning from now on, it is full time :) I think that it will do him good because the start/stop has been confusing for him: today, is your first day. Oh, not anymore. Now it is... He is anxious to see who else is in his class and where the paints are... sounds like trouble to me! ;)
As I said, it is a holiday and, for most people, it is a time to relax. For me, I chose to basically rip apart most of our living room and basement so that I could clean it and reorganize it. Not relaxing, by the way ;) The boys know, by now, just to stay out of my way when I get in one of those moods. Smart boys ;)
Now I am sitting and having a coffee (I feel that it is well deserved). It actually feels good to have our home a bit more organized. The summer at home always takes a toll on the neatness aspect ;)

Wishing you all a great Labour Day... or Labor Day.... or just plain old Monday ;) xox

First day of kindergarten!

Oliver had a great first full day of kindergarten! Needless to say, he was quite tired when we picked him up. So much stuff to do and learn :) How exciting! I am sure that the big boys are jealous that they no longer have Lego in their classrooms ;)

Hope you all had a great day xox

Proud boy!

Happy September!

Despite the fact that I hate the winter, I have to admit that my favourite time of the year is autumn. There is something about the crisp air and cosy sweaters that I just love.

Oliver is starting kindergarten today. We will be meeting his teacher and getting him ready for his first full day tomorrow. He is so excited... and I am excited for him :)

Happy September!

Back to school

Today the big boys went back to school :) Despite their protests, I can tell that they were happy to get back to their friends and routine. Oliver will be gradually integrated into kindergarten over the rest of this week. We have a meeting with his new teacher tomorrow and he is SO excited! He has been insisting that I read a book about the first day of kindergarten OVER AND OVER to him... The school supplies are purchased, labelled and organized. The boys got new shoes, new haircuts and new back to school clothes. I even started to buy snow pants already (yes, it totally hurt to do this!). Now, I think that I will have that glass of wine ;) We survived another summer and the back to school prep ;) Welcome to September!

Wishing you all a good rest of the week! xox
